Extension DVD features Metter, Sandhill parishes
The Catholic Church Extension Society has produced a new video, "An American Journey", which features Holy Family Parish in Metter and Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Sandhill.
Among those with "speaking parts" in the 81/2-minute DVD are Bishop J. Kevin Boland, Father John Brown, pastor of Holy Trinity Parish in Swainsboro; and John Stinson and Carol Goodman, two of the original parishioners of Holy Family Parish.
The Extension Society produced "An American Journey", to promote the organization's service to mission parishes in the United States. It is posted on the Society Web site at http://www.catholicextension.org/videos/ .
To produce the DVD, Extension sent a video crew to mission parishes in the Dioceses of Savannah and in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Founded in 1905, the Catholic Church Extension Society's mission is to "strengthen the Church's presence and mission in under-resourced and isolated communities across the United States."
Over the decades, the Extension Society has assisted the Diocese of Savannah to the tune of over $5 million to help build churches; provide vestments for needy parishes; help educate seminarians; help with campus ministry; to subsidize salaries; and to contribute to Mass offerings.
