Frequently Asked Questions:
- Why are we having this event?
- The One in the Spirit event is a diocesan-wide celebration of the Catholic Faith. Our first event, held in 2006, was a huge success and we are hoping to make this one even better! It is an opportunity for us to join together in prayer and thanksgiving for the many gifts given to us by our gracious God.
- Who is it for?
- This event is for everyone in our diocese! Since our theme is “A Catholic Homecoming,” we want to extend a special welcome to any Catholics who have been away from the Faith. Those who have been received into the Church and/or have been Baptized in the past year will have a special role in this event by leading the entrance procession for the closing liturgy.
- Where will it be held?
- The One in the Spirit event will be once again held at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry, Georgia. Located right off of I-75 at 401 Larry Walker Parkway. For directions or more information, check out Georgia National Fairgrounds website.
- Is there a cost?
- There is no charge for this wonderful event!
- What can I expect?
- An entrance procession will start the day and all parishes and organizations are invited to prepare a banner and have their members bring it in. This procession will finish with the entrance of the Eucharist.
A Eucharistic Adoration Chapel will be available throughout the day.
There will be four separate concurrent tracks offered throughout the day with dynamic speakers and activities.
- General Track is focused on adult faith-formation
- Hispanic Track is for our Spanish-speaking members
- Youth Track is geared to middle school and older.
- Children’s Track is for children between the ages of 5 through the 5th grade. Pre-registration is required. We will have 2 separate areas available: ages 5-2nd grade and 3rd-5th grade.
- What about the Sacrament of Reconciliation?
- It will be available from 11:30 AM-3:30 PM in the General, Hispanic, and Youth Tracks.
- Will there be food?
- Food will be available for purchase in the McGill Building which is the food/vendor area.
- Is childcare provided?
- No, but we will have a children’s track for K-5 grade.
