The Catholic community in Harris County was originally part of Saint Anne's Parish in Columbus, GA and can trace its own identity back to the early 1960’s when Father Lawrence A. Lucree began celebrating Mass in people’s homes and at the Callaway Gardens Resort. A chalet-style church was built on a U.S. highway 27 site north of Hamilton, GA and dedicated in 1972 as a mission church of Saint Anne's.  In 1980, Sister Rosemary Sullivan of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary, was assigned to the mission as Pastoral Assistant, along with Franciscan Sisters Philomena Fogerty and  Nancy Exconde. In 2002, Father Ronnie Madden, priest in residence, and his parishioners purchased an 18 acre site near Pine Mountain, GA on which to build a new church, parish hall and religious education center.

On the November 26, 2006 Solemnity of Christ the King,  Bishop Kevin Boland of the Savannah Diocese officially established Christ the King Parish of the Savannah Diocese and appointed Father Ronnie Madden as its first Pastor.
